Sunil Garg

Dr. Garg has over 30 years of experience as an attorney, scientist and manager.

He practices in the areas of corporate law, environmental law and intellectual property law.

As a partner at Eder Garg Law Group LLC, Dr. Garg represented a wide range of clients in corporate transactions and litigation as well as environmental litigation and consulting. He has performed environmental audits and provided general transactional counseling within diverse R&D-driven and manufacturing industries, including plastics processing, pharmaceutical and chemicals manufacturing, research and development, pesticide formulation, textile finishing, printing and embossing, specialty chemical production and waste-to-energy conversion.

Dr. Garg is well-versed in all aspects of business-related legal advice, including the aforementioned litigation and transactional concerns, as well as operational advice including, but not limited to, labor and employment law issues, asset recovery, risk management and regulatory counseling and enforcement action defense.

In his capacity as a consultant and an attorney, Dr. Garg has reviewed numerous patents and advised on various technical aspects in areas such as poly-acrylonitrile based hydrogel production for use in spinal implants, over-the-counter pharmaceuticals and nutritional supplements involving alpha-D-galactosidase, recycling and recovery of usable metals from hazardous waste streams and manufacture and use of high strength fibers and plastics for electrical, electronic and textile applications.

Prior to joining Natarajan LLP, Dr. Garg was associated with the firms Hannoch Weisman P.C., Stroock & Stroock & Lavan LLP and Lowenstein Sandler P.C.

Dr. Garg is also President and Founder of The Ecoshelf Group, Inc., a Summit, New Jersey-based consultancy that provides advice on a variety of scientific, technical and environmental law issues to a variety of business concerns.

Representative Matters

•Developed an advocacy position paper on the unfairness of the interim allocation for cleanup costs in a complex commingled landfill. Successfully reduced the client’s interim allocation from 13% to 1%
•Counseled clients such as Old Southington Landfill, Solvents Recovery Service of New England, Wells G & H, Picillo, Helen Kramer Landfill, SCP-Carlstadt, LCP, Valleycrest Landfill, and Haverhill Landfill in the remediation of Superfund sites
•Negotiated technical remedies and settlements of major New Source Performance Standards, National Emissions Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants, boiler and industrial furnace rules, land disposal restrictions and Resource Conservation and Recovery Act-related enforcement actions with state agencies and several United States Environmental Protection Agency Regions, including Regions One through Six.
•Negotiated technical aspects and settlement of enforcement action to close a 35-acre hazardous waste landfill in Texas
•Pursued ‘no-migration petition’ for hazardous waste injection into deep wells, including fate and transport models for injected wastes, and seismic and geo-technical data and models for the impact of the injection process on the environment
•Negotiated technical, engineering and legal aspects of remedy for significant groundwater contamination, including LNAPL, DNAPL, bedrock and overburden contamination issues, at several sites, including a 145-acre former 100-year old chemical plant and a site with a 25-well zone-of-depression pumping system
•Assisted in the development of litigation strategy and tactics in disputes arising from alleged infringement of intellectual property rights involving over-the-counter anti-flatulence remedy, membrane separation process for recovery of carbon dioxide from flue gas, and injection and blow molding machinery and control logic associated therewith
